Commissions

If you’ve fallen in love with my artwork but I haven't painted “The one” yet, commissioning me is the best way to get me to paint exactly what you want.

Get in touch about commissions here and read through my commission FAQs.

By mixing your ideas with my unique style and colour choices we can bring your special landscape to life on canvas.

My bespoke service will produce a unique work of art, a celebration of colour and landscape bringing creativity, individuality and special memories into your home. Together we can create a painting that reminds you of a special occasion, time or place in your life.

Whatever your story is it will be an important part of the creating process and I’ll ensure I use it to recreate your emotional connection to the landscape in your artwork.

“I’ve just taken possession of a commission by Sarah. I’m delighted with the result.

Sarah put a huge amount of work in and kept me involved throughout the process. Excellent value and highly recommended.”

Commission FAQs

Because it's all a little bit daunting, every artist is different and I don’t expect you to know how it works.

How much does it cost?

Commission pricing starts at £250 for a small pen and wash creation and can go up to £5000 for a large original oil painting.

Do I get to choose the colours?

Yes of course, a commission is a collaborative process. We’ll discuss colours, the story behind the view you’ve chosen, sizes and framing.

Is framing included in the price?

While framing costs are not included in your price I am happy to advise on framing and arrange framing for you.

Will we have a contract?

Yes, Your contract will include size, colours, materials, subject matter, a completion deadline and any other relevant details.

How long does it all take?

Depending on the complexity of the artwork your bespoke service can take between two to several months. If you have a specific deadline let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you.

Will I get to meet you in person?

I always try to meet my clients in person but if geographically impossible zoom calls are a great alternative.

Will you do sketches for me?

Yes, I’ll produce initial sketches and then after discussing them with you a further working sketch which we can refine up to three times.

When do I pay?

You will need to pay 50% of costs before work can begin and a final 50% when your artwork is complete.

How do I pay?

You can pay via a bank transfer or through a PayPal invoice.

Do you deliver the painting?

I am happy to deliver within Sussex for a small fee or you can collect your painting directly from me. If you would like your painting sent further afield a packaging and courier service is available for cost.

What if I don’t like the finished result?

If you decide you don’t like your artwork (it’s never happened before) you have a right of refusal. A right of refusal means you can leave the painting with me and forgo paying the final 50% installment.

Will you make prints from my painting?

It’s totally up to you. I usually offer two price points for your commission;

The first price point will be higher and while I will retain all copyright for the painting I will not reproduce the image for sale.

The second price point will be lower, I will make up the price difference by using the image to produce greeting cards and limited edition prints.

Still curious?
